Handwoven Scarves Made by Us from Our Alpacas
These scarves are truly one of a kind because they come from our much-loved alpacas, each alpaca with their own personality. I (Mariann) core spin the scarf with a thin alpaca core yarn as the center, and then I spin our alpaca fiber around the core. (In the finished scarf, you only see our alpaca fiber. This process adds strength for warping the loom and allows us to get the most yardage from each alpaca.) Next Maria and I warp the loom together before Maria takes over with the weaving and braiding of the scarf. The finished scarf is then handed to me for a wash in gentle shampoo and rinse. Finally, the scarf is hung to dry naturally.
Alpaca is warmer than wool, soft, fire resistant, and hypoallergenic.
Scarf care: Simply wash in warm but not hot soapy water, rinse, and hang or lay flat to dry.
About Moonflower: Moonflower is such a precious alpaca. She gets along with everyone here. One of her favorite things to do is drink fresh water directly from the faucet or hose as it’s coming out. She also likes to be handfed peppermint/alfalfa treats. Her mom is Freedom and her dad is Caspian. She has many siblings and relatives here. This scarf was made from her first shearing.
