Meet the Animals

Let's Start With the Rescues...

I got a call from a friend several years ago asking if I'd take in 2 yearling black alpacas. The owner was getting older and could not care for them any longer. I said yes, so Maria and I made the trip to Billings, Montana to pick up the two half brothers with no names, that we named Johnny and Cash, our men in black.
They both jumped out of the trailer that brought them and into the backseat of our truck like they knew they were going home. We rode home with our new friends and talked to them and played Johnny Cash music on our way back to Wyoming. It was in the fall and they had not yet been shorn, so it was too late to shear them with winter coming on. They would have to live with their long coats until Spring.

Both were shy, but they soon came around to trust us. Johnny was the more outgoing of the two and trusted to take treats from our hands first. Johnny's best non-alpaca friend is Lexi the mustang. Johnny likes to eat together with Lexi and they have been seen playing together several times and seem to enjoy each other's company. Johnny and Cash also have kept a tight friendship and bond as do all of the rescues when we take them in.
